Initial Ideas

For my 2nd week project we were tasked with coming up with an impossible idea, this meant I had to think of a project that was so grand that I wouldn’t have been able to complete within the week. This was an interesting perspective to take, I liked thinking about which aspects of my art from last week I wanted to continue with and then upscaling, just to downscale my ideas with time and cost constraints in mind.

I wanted to expand on the Nekojiru inspired cats I had the week before. To do this I thought to have statues of cats in different occupational-wear scattered around relevant places in London. My initial drawing was the business man in Canary Wharf but after drawing the other two, ( a TFL worker at Waterloo station and a Nurse outside a Hospital) I decided I wanted the project to be a way of commemorating the essential workers who had to work during the pandemic and decided to change my Canary Wharf cat from a business man to a builder.
